today icon factory's freeware release is the second set of sticker icons from david lanham, which may be my favorite icons of all time. i can't wait for a set 3 of them that includes things like creative suite, office, firefox, and bit torrent. for now i'll just use the dinosaur icon for firefox (because it looks nothing like a dinosaur!) and a skull for finder and love i
.in my non dork online readings i am obsessed with this site http://www.seejanework.com organization that is fashionable! i am loving it. that's all for now.
so to start today - yesterday panic released coda. it's kind of beautiful. i've only had a small chance to play with it today but i'm fairly certain any other editor i've ever used will soon be out the window. and not only that but it will make my time spent FTP'ing things back and forth so much less.
now onto more geekiness: cs3 icons
for me it's not the fact that the colors or capitalization don't seem to have any purpose that make these icons most disappointing but it's mostly just that this is software that sets industry standards for anyone else that is even trying to compete with them and these icons are the graphical representation of that (no matter how small of a representation they may be). i think cs1 and 2 were on track - while flowers, feathers, and butterflies don't necessarily mean something significant to the product itself they were at least some sort of graphic that was well designed and put together and seemed up to date. i know simplicity is in and maybe that's what they were going for with these but even so it could have been done so much better.
so in an attempt to a)keep with my current icon set b)to attempt to have nicer cs3 icons that were still near what they originally intended (i get really confused when i change my icons to something crazy and then try to use someone else's computer) i got one of my friends to help me with these simple changes. now i still don't even think these are the greatest icons but they're at least slightly better than the originals. (plus we just made them during the downtime broken RIT internet was giving us)
ok. so this past week sucked but i'm back now reading blogs and keeping up with my pop culture addiction.
for starters.... i hate frenzic. and by hate i really mean love but it is owning my life. i can NOT stop playing this game. sorry non-mac users you are missing out
i've been enjoying this all week as well. Ode to Zach Braff. mostly because i do kind of love zach braff too... luckily for me i don't have to worry about the non-gay way thing.
*sigh* i do not enjoy this news John Krasinski and Renée Zellweger. i agree with best week ever... i have no problem with her.. but jim?!? too much.
more office-ness next week promo man i love the office
my last order of business for today - what is up with those ugly ass hoodies. this is the only example i can find but this isn't even the worst example i've seen. oh god i really really hate them.
thumbs up
acceptable.tv - esp homeless james bond
jason bateman in a wheel chair - hopefully this will redeem zach braff from last kiss
adult swim - always but specifically five minutes to kill (yourself)
thumbs down
those effing ugly hoodies with like one million colors and a thousand different designs on them. seriously they're so ugly.
snow tonight??? ew huge thumbs down to that
gaaaah new photoshop brushes *drools* favs of the moment
i still hate scranton. ew.
but i have a crush on john sellers just from his blog. and once i get through this growing stack of books he's next on the list.
so check out http://acceptable.tv/ it's vh1's new website where there are minishows that you watch then vote on and the shows with the most votes make another episode for next week and then other new shows air with the new episodes for you to vote on. i think it's a good idea and most of the videos i've watched have been pretty funny but the site is a little confusing but there are decent tutorials to help you. i just want to know what some other people think of it.
i'm loving the paul rudd/michael showalter response to the lilly tomlin/david o russell meltdown
and this is my wtf article of the day: candy flavored meth
so i've decided to start using this blog as my geeky/opinion blog. i'll post the things here that i find interesting and want to share.
so to begin i'll start with my sites of the day:
